Sunday School

Quilters

Picture
We encourage children to worship with their parents during the worship service.

Sunday School takes place between September and May. The children leave the worship service after the children's message and then return before communion.
Each week they hear a story and do activities based on the scripture readings heard during worship.

If you enjoy sewing, quilting and fellowship with friends then joining Unity's quilters will be a lot fun.  The quilters meet Wednesdays from 9:30 am to mid-afternoon.  The quilting group also encourages donations of fabric, thread, yarn, batting, and monies for shipping quilts overseas.  The quilts are given to local groups like the Women's Shelter as well as sent around the world with Canadian Lutheran World Relief.

Church Council

Social Ministry

Unity's church council meets once a month to provide vision and oversight for our congregation.  We seek to discern together what God is up to inside and outside of our church building.

Music

Music is an important avenue for ministry at Unity.  You may appreciate the time to prepare yourself for the service while one of our talented pianists plays the Prelude or perhaps the soothing or joyful music during communion. You may be moved by special music such as a vocal soloist or the choir, or perhaps by singing in the choir.  (Rehearsal is on Wednesdays from 7-8 p. m. and new members are always welcome.)  Music reaches the heart in ways that the spoken word cannot.

Great care is taken in the selection of hymns to be sung during the services.  They are chosen to relate to the texts of the day.  Some will be new to many, but there are also some great old favourites included.  This is a time when we can all join together to “Praise the Lord”.
“May the peoples praise you, O God.  May all the peoples praise You.”  (Psalm 67:5)
Each month we fill our shopping cart with offerings for the Medicine Hat Food Bank.
